On a beautiful March morning, my little family and I found ourselves in a tiny dilemma. We had three whole days off together, but were unsure how we should spend it. Should we just sit around the house relaxing? Spring cleaning? Go on a trip? Read some books? Binge watch some Netflix shows?! The opportunities were endless! I couldn’t remember the last time we had three consecutive days off together as a family, (unless it was for a holiday) so we knew we wanted to make the most of it.
We immediately thought it might be fun to stay at The Getaway Cabins I had been talking about for years! We already had a trip booked for October, but I checked out the last minute pricing and availability anyway, just for fun of course. We couldn’t possibly plan a trip the morning of, could we?! Well, within minutes, we had booked our stay! We had an hour to pack and leave the house!
Our destination was about an hour and a half away, and the cabins were easy to find! Some of them are somewhat close to other cabins, but are facing in a way that gives each cabin lots of privacy! When we arrived at our cabin, our first thought was “wow this is pretty small!” which of course we expected, but still felt the need to point out to each other. Even though it was small, there was plenty of storage space to keep our bags and shoes, and lots of hooks to hang our jackets, hats and scarves.
We disconnected from social media, sat out by the fire every day, roasted s’mores, and enjoyed each others company. Every night after we put our little one to bed, Cal and I played board games and enjoyed margaritas. I found the entire trip so peaceful, though I will admit, I said on numerous occasions that I will get my own cabin next time just so I could sleep all day in peace (mom life, right?! 🤪).
We loved every minute of our stay at Getaway Cabin Blake Brook, and can’t wait for our next trip! We stayed two nights and three days, and wished we had even more time! We were so sad to leave, but knew we would be back very soon!
